Senior Fraud Prevention: Stopping Scams and Staying Safe

Virtual by Zoom, pre-registration is required. 
You'll learn how to recognize the most common forms of fraud and the tactics aimed at seniors and others from experts at Lutheran Social Services, a partner of MMFCU's in providing financial education for your financial well-being. Learn how to respond assertively to the pressures of phone and online con artists, and know where and how to report fraud. This information is essential for older adults and their loved ones, but valuable for all ages. There is no cost to join the Zoom meeting, but pre-registration is required. 
Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship (Application deadline: November 30, 2020)

The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Council is now accepting applications for $1,000 scholarships – being awarded to 16 Minnesota credit union members for college. Any member of Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union pursuing a post-secondary education in the fall 2021/spring 2022 OR is a high school senior graduating in 2021 is eligible to apply. Applications are due by November 30, 2020.


A few tips and tricks before you begin:
  • Make the essay personal
  • Be creative
  • Answer the question that is asked
  • Keep it to 500 words or less
  • Grammar and spell check, then do it again

Visit the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Council website to apply online by answering a few questions about your future plans and credit union membership as well as no more than a 500-word essay sharing your personal experiences to the following question: Knowing that we have the power today to change the story of tomorrow, how will you prepare for future financial obstacles? Reflect on your personal and your family’s experiences.
