Personalized service is a major benefit of utilizing Mid-Minnesota. Take advantage of MMFCU’s shared branching services through CO-OP Shared Branch and you can access your account at any of the over 5,900 credit union branches nationwide, often just as if you were visiting one of our own.
The national CO-OP Shared Branch network links participating credit unions electronically, allowing credit union members to do “branch banking” even when the branch near you doesn’t belong to MMFCU. This is a huge benefit to if you travel, if your workplace does not coincide with our branch locations, if you are a student, or if you simply enjoy the convenience of expanded access.
At a CO-OP Shared Branch location you can:
- Make deposits and withdrawals
- Make loan payments
- Receive loan advances
- Access VISA funds
Many shared branches also offer transfers, statement histories, money orders and notary services. Since services vary from one location to another, check with individual branches before your visit for a complete menu of available services and any fees associated with that service.
To help make your Shared Branching a successful experience, below are some frequently asked questions:
Will I need identification? You will be required to show current identification such as:
- U.S. Driver's License or ID
- Passport from any country
- U.S. Passport Card*
- Permanent Resident or Resident Alien Card
- Consular ID Card
- Military ID*
- Undocumented Driver's License
- Temporary License- Renewals Only
- Minors may use a Student ID for Deposits Only
- Statement/History prints
- Optional services - Teller or Cashier checks, gift cards, money orders, coin counting, notary services are just a few. (Please check with the credit union for their additional offerings and service fees associated.)
Are there additional costs to use Shared Branching? There are no fees for basic services such as deposits, transfers and withdrawals. Please call ahead to the shared branch you will be using for additional services and any fees associated with that service.
Can I cash checks at a Shared Branch? Yes, many checks can be cashed at participating shared branch locations, such as US Treasury checks, US Postal Money Orders, state or local government checks for immediate funds. Other check deposits may not be available immediately and may have a short hold. We recommend asking the branch staff regarding your specific request.
How about payroll checks? Payroll checks up to $2,500 must be computer generated AND must include the corresponding pay stub.
How much can I withdrawal at a Shared Branch? Typically there is a $500 limit if funds are available to the member but some branches have specific limits. If you are looking for a larger amount, MMFCU recommends you call ahead to confirm they have the cash on hand to avoid disappointment or any limits they may have. MMFCU's limit is $2,000.
